So it looks like the humans are thinking about putting some plants in my backyard. Apparently the folks who lived in this house before me had 3 big dogs, one of which they kept chained in the backyard, and they did a lot of damage. We want to get off on the right foot and make the place nice, so we’ve put down grass seed on the area where the poor doggie was chained (it’s verrrrry obvious), and we’re filling up holes.

Which brings me to something I hold dear: digging.

Many of you have seen me in all of my digging glory in my old park in Los Angeles. If not, let me refresh your memory:

Yes, I am an Airedale Terrier and I like to dig. That said, mom and dad are thinking that maybe they should take this into account when planning the backyard and garden flora and vegetabalia. Some sort of hedge or vine-type thing along the back fence perhaps, to dissuade me from digging in all of those tasty areas that I’ve already found where the last dogs liked to try to make their escape? Any ideas for things that should be avoided would be welcome as well.

I also am feeling the loss of my “office” – the space I had in Mareike’s yard back in LA – so I’m thinking that I might like to construct a new one, complete with desk lamp and spot for my laptop so that I may blog in peace.

This is their first time doing something like this, so I’m ready to excuse their potential stupidity. At least they’re willing to admit to it, and do this RIGHT.

Love,

Bogart
