Do you ever have one of those days when nothing happens?

Klaus is still in very critical condition, but bless his big heart he hasn’t gotten any worse.  Just maintaining – I have to consider that a victory for the day.  One in the plus column.  The messages that I am receiving now are including stories and photos from some of our crazy times in New York City, Los Angeles, and lots of them from Vienna… I keep telling Klaus that he is going to have to explain more about some of these stories when he wakes up…

Right now Klaus is listening to my ipod.  I have not listened to any music since this occurred, and I usually always have my ipod on.  On the way back to the hospital after giving Bogart his evening walkie, I absentmindedly turned on the radio.  Now here I am going to show my age – they were playing Whip It by Devo – and I started to cry and sing the song at the top of my lungs.

When a problem comes along – you must whip it

Before the cream sits out too long – you must whip it

When something’s going wrong – you must whip it

Yes, I’m sure it looked as ridiculous as it sounds.  Of course I was making some of the whipping motions as well.  But what it did, after the song was over, was make me realize something that might be missing – music.  So when I got back to the hospital I asked the nurse if I might let Klaus listen to my ipod.  Well these are the fabulous nurses who let me bring Bogart into the ICU so the ipod was an easy sell.

Right now he is listening to Roxy Music’s Avalon.  It’s my very favorite make-out album.  All slow-ish songs, sexy Bryan Ferry voice…

I hope he’s enjoying it.  I’m enjoying thinking about him enjoying it.

Love,

Lulu

  1. Glad to hear that you are staying positive, despite how difficult that may be. What a great idea to have Klaus listen to music – I hope he is enjoying it too. Thinking of you and sending you more puggy kisses!
    Love Clover xo

  2. Just think of all the pee-mails and walkie-news that Bogart will have to tell his Daddy about, there will be a lot of giggles and Aire-tales. Then, of course, Dad will have a lot of catching up to do with all those missed walkies, and meeting mama at the bus stop as always … Daaaaaad, come on!!!

  3. I also think that it is a good idea for Klaus to listen to music. It might stimulate his mind. Stay positive. I also think that every day that he doesn’t get worse is a plus.

  4. Hmmm.. I kinda got a feeling Klaus loves the music…
It’s good to see that you are still staying pawsitive and strong. Klaus needs you and your Bogie boy too…
Sending you a hug from Huskee and puppy kisses from Hershey.

  5. That was a great idea! We’re sure Klaus is enjoying the music and maybe it’s bringing back some great memories! Our mom has over 300 CD’s with old songs that were snagged off the internet before it was illegal. She listens to them whenever she’s feeling “down” and it seems to help!

We’re still sending loads of Aire-zen and praying like crazy!

    Aire-hugs,
    Poppy, Penny & Patches

  6. Sending many kisses to all of you. The ipod is a fab idea! Keep an eye on his vitals to make sure you don’t get his heart rate too high with the make out music

    kisses
    Gussie

  7. Wow u must be my Mom’s age – she says Love is the Drug was their “clubbing” song.

Music is soothing, music is inspiring, music is uplifting, music is us. Klaus will feel it and it will help.

  8. So glad you were allowed to let Klaus listen to music and that you have an IPod with tons of listenable music ~wink~.

  9. We’re sending all the good kitty mojo and purrs we’ve got! But don’t talk about that song more. It made our human Mom get up and dance funny and make horrible noisses that hurt our ears.
    Purrrrrrrrs,
    The Hotties

  10. Hehehehe, Mama & her brother loved Devo & the song Whip It! She remembers when they performed it on Saturday Night Live one time. Music is very soothing to the mind no matter what kind it is. We’re sure Klaus is enjoying listening to your ipod. It’s very good news to hear that Klaus is staying stable. Won’t be long now & he’ll start getting better each day.
    Luv & Wirey Hugs,
Butchy, Snickers, Ruby, Sylvester, Scuby & Mama

  11. Many healing purrs from the feline denizens of the House of Chaos ! We came by your site when surfing catblogs and could not help but turn on the purr-nerators for your Daddy, woofie Bogart. Our mistress had to baby-sit a boy and an Airedale when she was young and she remembers how sweet but headstrong Airedales can be. Fond memories she says. And she says music is healing for the heart that goes through the ears.

Purrs, and headbutts to you too woofie,
Loup-Garou, Bean Sidhe, Hrimnir, Frankette, Freya and Isegrim
