We started off on a gloomy Saturday toward the Polish Festival that dad read about… off to North Portland to a little Polish enclave for a good kielbasa party…
And when we got there all we saw was this – yes, it’s a sign, yes, it’s advertising the Polish Festival, and yes, it’s NEXT WEEKEND…
Oh well. Time to pack up and walk around somewhere else. We’d never been to Laurelhurst Park so since it looks like such a nice place from inside the Bogiemobile it must be nice in person.
Mmm… pond. That means VARMINTS!!!
Ooh, an off-leash area – SO CHI-CHI…
Of course I’m not allowed off-leash because mama and dad say that I’m a hooligan and musn’t be trusted. I can’t even protest because deep down inside I know it’s kind of true…
Oooh… DUCKS! They seem to be experiencing an algae bloom here, that’s why the water looks so green, but the ducks don’t seem to mind.
See how green it is? That’s the algae…
But everything else is still green as well, so it was time to explore the park a bit. It’s very pretty, we saw lots of families and even a bridal party!
After such a morning, a boy is hungry. I didn’t think I’d make it back home without a little snackie. So it was time to check out another place that we’d heard a lot about… Otto’s Sausage.
While dad procured the snausages, I checked out the local color.
What a cool place this is – you can get food inside or you can get your sausage from the smoker outside…
There’s dad in the background going for a juicy one on a bun.
Mama, I sure hope he remembers which ones are my favorites…
Maybe while I’m waiting I’ll check out what’s inside.
I AM HERE FOR YOUR SAUSAGE
Looks like dad got a good one. I’m happy to help ya with those condiments dad!
Sitting? Ok sure. I’ll sit.
Sittin’ like a good boy, waiting for my sausage-ly reward…
I got a nice big bite, here’s one for you my friends:
Oh Otto’s, I shall return…
And just look at what I found when I got home… kitties SNUGGLING! That’s Behemoth and Kafka all curled up, keeping warm on a chilly day. They’re so c-u-t-e…
Love,
Bogart
Whoah, Bogart! You might have seen my friend Gabbie at Laurelhurst Park, except that she was at my house playing this morning!!! Otto’s always looks (and smells) good; mom says you should check out Edelweiss at SE 12th & Powell, too!

Hi Bogie! We’re hooligans too! Maybe it’s an Aire-thing! That snausage looks very yummy! We hope you get to go back next weekend for the festival!
Aire-hugs,
